Maboroshi means phantom.

In other words, it means something so rare and mysterious that it almost does not exist. 

About 80 years ago, this sake brewery discovered their original yeast in apple skins and created an innovative sake.

Eight years after the discovery of the yeast, this sake won first place at a national sake tasting competition in Japan, and was designated as the New Year's sake for the Japanese Imperial Family for the next three years.

Nowadays, sake made with apple yeast is not so rare, but this sake is a pioneer.

Even today, it is faithful to the original method, which is mostly done by hand, and takes a long time to make.

And it continues to win numerous awards even in the 2000s.

You can enjoy the finest Junmai Daiginjo sake with a rich aroma and a slightly sweet, fruity and mellow taste.
