Nikaido "The Original" Mugi Shochu

The Nikaido family has been brewing and distilling in Oita for eight generations, and helped bring about the shochu boom of the 70s and 80s in Japan. The first-ever vacuum (Gen-atsu) distilled barley shochu.

Crisp and bright, a medium body, and a pleasant texture.

It has a delicate, fruity and floral aroma reminiscent of citrus fruits. 

On the palate, milky and creamy nuances of grain with a smooth mouthfeel spread, followed by a finish with the characteristic toasty aroma of barley. 

It is also excellent as a highball and a base spirit for mellow and gentle cocktails.
